Let There Be Light

3D printing can produce light fixtures that conventional manufacturing may struggle to either produce or produce with any economy of scale.  Lucky for us there’s such a thing called Thingiverse.  Here you’ll find the “world’s largest 3D printing community” and “design shareing platform.”  It’s hosted by Makerbot and most designs are free to download.  Tipping the designer is encouraged but not enough to put you on a major guilt trip.  You can print to your heart’s content if you’re lucky enough to have a 3D printer.  If not, download the STL file and upload to Shapeways, a company that will print your design and deliver it to your doorstep.

A sample of the lighting found on Thingiverse recently…
