Teenager ReceiveS 3D Printed Hip Acetabular Cup

Swedish teenager,Fanny Fellesen, suffers from Type I neurofibromatosis.  It and a congenital defect of her hip left her pelvis in bad shape.  Bad enough that doctors advised her to prepare for life in a wheelchair.

That was a few years ago.  It’s been 18 months since she received a 3D printed acetabular cup implant customized especially for her hip.  Although it took many months of physical therapy, she nows walks freely.  No crutches.  No cane.  NO WHEELCHAIR.

Mobelife, owned by Belgian company Materialise, oversaw the 3D scanning, design and printing of Fanny’s new hip.
