NIU Student 3D Prints Hand for Violinist

Musician Sarah Valentiner may be missing her right hand but that doesn’t stop her from playing the violin.  She’s been using a splint on her right hand to manage the bow but hasn’t been happy with its performance.  Her parents found Northern Illinois University’s College of Engineering and Engineering Technology.  Sarah partnered with student, Oluseun Taiwo, to craft a better hand for bowing.  They spend this past summer on the project and Sarah now has a lightweight hand 3D printed with nylon and plastic.
